Ultimate Golf Vacations is offering a four-night package to Florida’s PGA National Resort and Spa that includes three rounds of golf, car rental, a $100 resort credit and daily breakfast. Cost: $869 per person.
Located in the upscale enclave of Palm Beach Gardens in West Palm Beach, PGA National has recently completed a $100-million renovation that included an extensive refurbishing of the hotel and a tweaking by Jack Nicklaus of the Champion Course, home of the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic and the marquee attraction of the property’s five 18-hole layouts.
Originally designed by Tom Fazio, the course was first reworked in 1990 by Nicklaus, whose most significant contribution was the infamous “Bear Trap” — holes 15 through 17 — a windswept and watery trio that has broken the hearts of countless golfers.
Ultimate Golf’s package, offered October 1 to December 14, includes rounds on the resort’s Estate, Squire, Palmer and Fazio courses. The Fazio layout, formerly the Haig, will reopen November 1 following a renovation by Tom Fazio II, the third generation of the Fazio family to work on the course. Tee times at the Champion Course are available at a surcharge.
