One Time Only at The Renaissance Club

Like most exclusive courses, The Renaissance Club in Scotland is fussy about who it allows on its fairways. But a new one-time-only offer unlocks the doors to the Firth of Forth beauty.

Scotland’s exclusive The Renaissance Club is now offering non-members a one-time-only opportunity to play the Tom Doak-designed stunner.

The “One Time Experience” includes a round of golf ($460 per player) and the option of an over-night stay in one of the 23 luxury rooms in the property’s new three-storey $16-million clubhouse ($643 a night per room). The offer is exactly as advertised: non-members are allowed only one visit to a club where a single membership costs about $125,000.

Launched to rave reviews in 2008, The Renaissance Club is situated on prime linksland in the district of East Lothian, just outside Edinburgh. Next door is famous Muirfield, the site of 16 Open Championships. Other neighbours on this stretch of Firth of Forth coastline marketed as Scotland’s Golf Coast include world-class links North Berwick and Gullane No. 1. Doak’s 7,300-yard beauty opens and closes with holes carved through stands of towering pine trees, while the middle stretch weaves through rumpled linksland. Several holes afford sweeping views of the Firth of Forth, including the lighthouse on Fidra Island.

Clubhouse amenities include a spa, a gym overlooking the 18th green, and a restaurant staffed by chefs trained in Michelin-starred restaurants.
