With a little help from the PGA of Canada, the annual Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship at Bermuda’s Fairmont Southampton has quickly become golf’s premier short-game tourney.

(Last updated October 2018.)

Time to start honing your short game for Bermuda’s 10th annual Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship, March 9-10, 2019.

Played at the Fairmont Southampton‘s Turtle Hill Golf Club, a hilly, meticulously maintained 2,684-yard 18-hole layout recognized by Golf Magazine as one of the “Top 5 Par 3 Courses in the World,” the tourney has grown in popularity and prestige with each outing since its launch in 2010.

Past winners include Canadian professionals Ian Doig (2012) and Nick Taylor (2011). But the two-day, 36-hole tourney is open to young and old, men and women, professionals and amateurs. Anyone who carries an official handicap is eligible to compete in an event with a total purse of more than $50,000 (all figures in US dollars).

The PGA of Canada will once again assist with tournament operations and promotion, lending the event a decidedly Canadian flavour. The top five players from the PGA of Canada rankings are offered automatic exemptions to the tournament.

Turtle Hill Golf Club is rated one of the top par three courses in the world.

About 150 participants are expected, with Golf Channel personality Charlie Rymer likely to return as the tournament’s host. The 2018 entry fee was $999, which included three nights at the Fairmont Southampton, three breakfasts, three lunches, two receptions and gifts (entry fee for 2019 TBA).

The Fairmont Southampton, the tourney’s host hotel, is a towering pink Bermudian landmark perched on a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Golfers who want to extend their visit won’t lack for places to play. Indeed, Bermuda is home to more courses per square kilometre than anywhere else in the world. Read more about the island’s courses in our feature story, Bermuda’s Fairways to Heaven.
